Interview from Pablo Picasso.

Hello, Mr. Picasso. We are really fascinated by your paintings. We would like to know some more things about your life and your work.
I’m happy to answer anything you want to know.
Firstly, when and where were you born?
I was born on 25 October 1881 in Malaga.
How did you start painting?
It was easy for me. My father was a painter and an art teacher. I learnt how to paint when I was very young and my mother said to me: ‘If you become a soldier, you will be a General. If you become a monk, you will become a Pope’. She meant that she trusted me for everything I did.
She didn’t expect me to become a painter and end up as
Picasso.
Did you always choose the colours you liked?
Most of the time my feelings made me choose the correct colours.
Why did you change your style in painting?
I didn’t do that on purpose. At times, I had different feelings. As you can understand, feelings make us paint, so I showed my emotions on different paintings. The critics gave different names on each style.
What changed your style except the emotions?
I feel that some strict rules of School of Fine Arts made me go out into the streets of Barcelona and paint what I saw in everyday life in the streets. Those made me feel a real person among all kinds of people.
Was there something special that turned you into styles of blue or rose periods?
I went to Paris to open my own studio. I liked the blue colour on my paintings. That’s why the critics call it  “Blue Period”.
Is there anything else about your change of styles, Mr. Picasso?
Yes, I can say that blue was a depressing colour – you know – I was depressed at that time. When my feelings changed, - I was in love- I painted in pink and red.
Oh, I see. You mean you are still in love?
Of course,  I know that my second wife now , who is only 34 years old , is my great inspiration.
When did you feel that ‘Surrealism’ is shown better?
I changed it as my extreme expression of ‘Cubism’. Especially when I saw the inhumanity of war and the destruction of the town of Guernica on April 26, 1937, I painted that one as fast as my horror and frustration was. I hope I could depict all the cruelty of war.
We are sure about what you wanted to show. That’s why   “Guernica” is your most famous one. You know that we admire you for your ideas about life, peace and war. What advice will you give to the new painters?
Follow their heart and inspiration.
Thank you for the precious details we learnt about you.
Thank you, too. I would like to give you one of my paintings, but they are all in museums.
